Overall verdict

May Bookkeeping has a functional, warm website that converts: clear calls to action, a Calendly booking link, a contact form, published phone and email, an active Insights blog, and a Reviews page showing 5.0 from 3 client reviews. The personal voice builds real rapport, and the credentials are on the site: over 25 years in financial services and a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. The remaining gaps are consistency, not proof: three different business-name variants across pages, a split geography message, generic "our team" template copy on the About Us page that clashes with the personal Who I Am page, no client logos, and no firm social pages to follow. This is a polish job, not a rebuild: the foundation and the proof are already there.

Recommendations

  1. Unify the brand: one name, one market.Use "May Bookkeeping LLC" everywhere (title tags, H1s, footer) and one geography line, e.g. "Serving Metro Detroit & Southeast Michigan." Inconsistency dilutes Google rankings and confuses visitors.
  2. Fix or fold the About Us page. The Who I Am page already tells Thomas's real story in first person, with his experience and QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification. Rewrite the generic plural "our team" copy on /about-us in the same voice, or fold that page into Who I Am so visitors meet one consistent person.
  3. Build on the reviews already earned. The Reviews page shows 5.0 from 3 clients. Ask recent clients for more reviews, surface the strongest one on the homepage next to the rating, and add client logos with permission. The proof habit is started; it just needs volume.
  4. Confirm and complete the Google Business Profile, then ask clients for reviews there.Local bookkeeping is won on Google. A listing with the firm's name, phone and website surfaced in search but could not be confirmed as claimed or reviewed. Claim it, complete it, and point happy clients to it.
  5. Create a Facebook business page and LinkedIn company page; link them in the footer.Replace the share-buttons-only footer with real follow links. Prospects who check socials currently find only a personal LinkedIn profile, which reads as inactive for the firm.
  6. Lead with a niche on the homepage. The nav already lists Real Estate Investor and Nonprofit, and the Michigan Nonprofit Association listing is a real foothold. A headline like "Bookkeeping for Michigan nonprofits and small businesses" converts better than generic "small businesses."
  7. Keep the Insights blog rhythm going. The blog has posted regularly since June 2025. That consistency is a quiet trust signal and an SEO asset; keep it fed and share each post on the new firm social pages once they exist.
